WICO Launches Workplace GBV Chatbot and Survey to Promote Safer Workplaces

Women in Communities Zimbabwe (WICO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, brought together government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders in Gweru to strengthen collective efforts to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the workplace. The engagement highlighted the importance of partnerships in creating safe, inclusive, and violence-free working environments.

A key highlight of the meeting was the launch of the Workplace Gender-Based Violence Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) Survey. The survey will generate evidence on the prevalence of workplace GBV, assess existing policies and reporting mechanisms, and identify gaps that will inform practical, evidence-based interventions to improve workplace safety across Zimbabwe.

The event also marked the official launch of the WICO GBV Information and Support Chatbot, now accessible via WhatsApp and the WICO website. The chatbot provides confidential, 24/7 access to information on GBV, available support services, referral pathways, and guidance for survivors, employers, and the public.

Through these initiatives, WICO continues to champion innovative and evidence-driven solutions that empower communities, strengthen workplace responses, and advance the vision of workplaces where dignity, equality, and respect are upheld for everyone.
